The ingredients are so simple for this dish. For the sauce, you will need garlic, cherry tomatoes, good olive oil, fresh basil, parmesan cheese, salt and crushed red pepper. I always use the sauce on angel hair pasta, but you can use any pasta you have.
Start by chopping 5 cloves of garlic. I chop it into a fine mince.
Next, heat the olive oil in a skillet. The olive oil is the key ingredient in this dish, so make sure to choose a high quality one with a great flavor.
Add the chopped garlic and cherry tomatoes to the heated oil.
Then, add in the Kosher salt.
and the crushed red pepper. I like my sauce pretty spicy, but if you don’t, just skip this step!
Cook your pasta according to the directions on the box. Just be sure not to over cook it. Also, to keep your pasta from sticking and to help flavor it, add 2 tablespoons of olive oil and a pinch of salt to your water.
Cook the tomatoes and garlic over a medium heat until the skins of the tomatoes start to pop (about 5-7 minutes). Make sure to continue to stir the sauce so that the garlic does not burn. Then, reduce to a low flame and cook for about 10-15 minutes.
When the pasta is ready, drain it and add it into the skillet with the sauce.
Toss the pasta in the sauce.
Grate the parmesan. Because this sauce is so simple, it is really important to choose high quality ingredients. Buying the real parmesan and grating it yourself will make this dish taste soooo much better than using the powdered stuff in the can!
Chop up the fresh basil.
Toss everything together in the skillet one last time! Plate it and enjoy!
